The list of corporate sports events within the KARAKAN INVEST Group has been expanded with a new discipline — for the first time, employees from across the Group’s enterprises took part in a darts tournament. The event was held under the supervision of the Darts Federation of Russia for the Kemerovo Region.
The game of darts has a history spanning several centuries. Modern rules were established about a hundred years ago, with the first official tournament held in 1927. By the mid-20th century, darts had gained recognition as a sport, and in the 1990s, darts federations began to appear worldwide, along with major international championships.
At KARAKAN INVEST, darts had previously featured as part of various corporate competitions, but this was the first standalone tournament dedicated solely to the sport. In darts, depending on the type of game, the winner is the player quickest to reach a specific number of points according to the established rules
Throws are made from a distance of 2.37 meters, and the center of the dartboard is placed 1.73 meters above the floor. The first teams to test their accuracy and competitive spirit according to official rules represented the Mining and Haulage Area, Auto Repair Workshops, Mechanical Repair Area, Chief Surveyor’s Service, and Shakhta Belovskaya JSC management, along with a company's women's team.
The main organizer and chief referee of the tournament was Alexander Grebenkin, Chairman of the Darts Federation of Russia for the Kemerovo Region. Belovskaya Shakhta employees competed in several games, finishing in the following team standings:
1st place – Automotive Repair Shop Team
2nd place – Management Team
3rd place – Chief Mine Surveyor's Service Team
The winners and runners-up received diplomas and cash prizes. Players who did not place in the prizes received consolation prizes. Five participants received prizes from the Belovskaya Shakhta trade union in the individual standings.
