Employees of the KARAKAN INVEST Group recently held a landscaping and beautification drive at the company’s facilities.
On the eve of May Day, staff from Shakhta Belovskaya CJSC, BELCOMMERCE, and KARAKAN INVEST worked hard to tidy up the grounds after the winter season. Debris was cleared from administrative office areas, the road to Novy Karakan village, the truck parking lot, and the main coal storage site. However, due to spring flooding, teams were unable to reach the banks of the Inya River this year.
The holding company’s employees carry out these environmental initiatives annually. This year, they collected and disposed of more than 40 bags of waste, consisting primarily of household and construction debris, old tires, and furniture.
New spring traditions are also taking root. A day earlier, eight pine saplings were planted in front of the Belovskaya Mine’s main administrative building, donated by an employee from his own land.
This is not the first such contribution: over the past two years, an entire grove of young conifers has been established on the site, thanks to another worker. His property borders a forest, where wind-blown seeds naturally sprout. To date, this man-made garden features 30 pines, 18 spruces, and a Siberian cedar.
