KARAKAN INVEST GROUP VII WINTER SPORTS AND ATHLETIC CONTEST: SUN, SNOW, AND EMOTIONS
Last Saturday, the Energetik Stadium in Inskoy village turned into a vibrant sports hub. Following a long-standing tradition, the venue hosted the VII Winter Sports and Athletic contest of the Karakan Invest Group.
The grand opening kicked off with welcoming remarks from Sergey Shestakov, First Deputy Director General of Karakan Invest; Ivan Glukhov, Chief Engineer of Shakhta Belovskaya CJSC; and Yuri Lysov, Chief Engineer of BELCOMMERCE LLC. A performance by a creative group from the Belovo Central House of Culture added a festive flair to the ceremony.
The competition program was packed with action. While some teams faced off in «valenki hockey» (hockey in felt boots) on the ice rink, others competed in the ski relay, valenki throwing, and the «Watch Out for the Car» contest, where four powerlifters raced to pull a GAZ Sobel vehicle for 30 meters.
Teams demonstrated seamless cooperation in the Multi-sport Relay using special equipment. This year, instead of the usual tubing relay, the Family Race (father, mother, and child) focused on accuracy: participants had to hit targets with «snowballs», with results based on both speed and precision. The sports and athletic contest concluded with a traditional tug-of-war.
A panel of judges led by Alexander Pokatov ensured fair play among the seven teams representing various divisions of Shakhta Belovskaya CJCS and BELCOMMERCE LLC.
The final standings were as follows:
1st Place: Mining Transport Division, Shakhta Belovskaya CJSC
2nd Place: Combined Team of BELCOMMERCE LLC
3rd Place: Administration of Shakhta Belovskaya CJSC
Winners and runners-up received diplomas and cash prizes. The Mining Transport Division team once again took home the main trophy — the Karakan Invest Winter Sports and Athletic Contest Winner’s Cup.
Special prizes were awarded by the trade unions of Shakhta Belovskaya CJCS and BELCOMMERCE LLC to outstanding participants. Fans were also engaged, winning sports souvenirs for participating in the «Sports Charades» contest and for their energetic support.
Throughout the event, a catering station provided food and drinks for all attendees. A dedicated area with a team of entertainers was organized for the youngest guests, making the sports and athletic contest a truly family-oriented celebration.
