HEAD OF OPEN-PIT MINING AREA AT KARAKAN INVEST GROUP NAMED BEST IN KUZBASS

Based on the results of the annual competition "Kuzbass – the Coal 'Heart' of Russia" held among the region's mining operations, Alexander Selyukin, head of Open-Pit Mining Section No. 2 at Belovskaya Mine CJSC, was named the winner in the "Open-Pit Mining Area Head – 2026" category.
Alexander has been employed since 2019 and leads the team of Open-Pit Mining Area No. 2 ("Yevtinsky-Perspektivny"). His duties include managing the production process, ensuring coal mining, overburden removal, and overburden stockpiling plans in compliance with process standards, monitoring the full extraction and mining of ready-to-extract coal reserves according to coal quality standards and quality mining operations, as well as managing the technical and economic performance metrics.
The team of Open-Pit Mining Area No. 2 successfully meets its production targets. Over the first six months of 2026, the employees of "Yevtinsky-Perspektivny" mined 0.9 million tons of coal and moved 9.5 million m³ of overburden, achieving 103% of their planned targets. In the first quarter of the year, the Area mined its 14-millionth ton of coal since operations began, which also marked the milestone 60-millionth ton for the entire mining operation.
For his achievements in fulfilling production targets, Alexander has previously received a Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and numerous corporate awards.
Kuzbass Governor Ilya Seredyuk presented the commemorative cup and winner’s diploma to Alexander Selyukin at a ceremonial event dedicated to Miner's Day held at Moscow Square in Kemerovo. The award comes with a monetary prize. Alexander Selyukin's photo, alongside those of other competition winners, is displayed in the "Gallery of Miner's Glory" near the Miners' Palace of Culture in the regional capital.

Winners are selected across categories including "Coal Company of Kuzbass," "Underground Mine," "Open-Pit Mine," "Underground Mine Director," "Open-Pit Mine Director," "Processing Plant," "Technology of the Year," "Social Project," and others. Key criteria for winning include zero workplace accidents, production in excess of plan, production modernization, and the execution of social programs.
Over its years of uninterrupted operations, the KARAKAN INVEST Group of Companies has repeatedly earned recognition in this competition: teams and employees of the holding's mining enterprise have won titles such as "Best Open-Pit Mine Director," "Best Heavy-Duty Mining Dump Truck Team," and "Best Excavator Team." The "Karakansky-Zapadny" Open-Pit Mining Section has been named the best open-pit mine, and KARAKAN INVEST as the best coal company in Kuzbass. Last year, marking the group's 15th anniversary, Shakhta Belovskaya CJSC was recognized as the best open-pit coal mine in Kuzbass.
