KARAKAN INVEST Group has surpassed the milestone of 60 million tons of coal produced since the commissioning of the Shakhta Belovskaya CJSC enterprise.
Since 2010, the holding has been mining D and DG grade thermal coal in the Belovsky Municipal District at two open-pit mining sites. The Karakansky-Zapadny section was the first to be commissioned, followed by the launch of the Evtinsky Perspektivny section in 2018, which currently accounts for the bulk of the enterprise's output. Coal produced by KARAKAN INVEST provides heat for residential buildings, social infrastructure, and industrial facilities.
The 60 millionth "jubilee" ton at Shakhta Belovskaya was mined during the first shift on May 12, 2026. Technically, this achievement was attributed to excavator operator Maxim Mastikhin, who mined the coal; haul truck driver Alexander Plotnikov, who transported the ton from the face; and bulldozer operator Sergey Zubenko, who managed the site leveling.
However, this milestone is a result of a collective effort of the entire KARAKAN INVEST team, which currently employs approximately 1,200 people.
To mark this significant occasion, a formal ceremony was held at the coal face. Workers loaded a BELAZ truck with coal and presented the open pit mine director, Konstantin Grinwald, with a symbolic piece of coal representing the achieved milestone, teamwork, and cooperation.
